This month SASA is taking a break from the bottle and doing something with some culture. Join us for a masterclass of all things cheese, hosted by SASA board members Spencer and Joakim in partnership with Luke Williams from the Culture Club Cheese.
Sommellerie is not only about wine! Cheese forms a vital part of a sommeliers arsenal of knowledge. Traditionally the responsibility of caretaking, maturation and presentation on the cheese trolley was bestowed upon the sommelier, rather than the kitchen as it often is today.
The aim of the class is to gain an understanding of the differences and key characteristics for the classic cheeses that are most produced and offered in South Africa. We will finish off the class with a workshop, tasting wines that work and do not work, with the different cheeses.
