Chenin Noir South Africa & South African Sommeliers Association (SASA) have officially partnered to provide a bursary for industry professionals to study with The Court of Master Sommeliers in South Africa
Deadline for applications: 6 August 2023
SASA is recruiting two SASA Members who are interested in advancing their careers through the CMS Introductory programme. SASA will be offering 75% to each successful recipient. However, each recipient must cover 25% of the programme costs upon acceptance of the bursary. This is a great opportunity open to all SASA Members.
Requirements to enroll for the bursary:
Must be a SASA member
A good basic theoretical knowledge of wines
Good understanding of Geography
Able to read, write and speak English
Able to study part-time
Able to demonstrate financial need
Able to demonstrate the commitment to advance your career in the wine sector

SASA is a non-profit organization that aims to offer its services to service industry professionals in South Africa. The association offers internationally recognized Sommelier qualifications to all its members and organizes the best sommelier and best young sommelier competitions in alternating years. In this partnership with Chenin Noir South Africa, the programme will contribute to the development of the wine industry professionals in South Africa by providing opportunities for young people to learn and grow with a globally accredited introductory certification.
Chenin Noir is dedicated to promoting wine education and inclusivity in the industry. Chenin Noir aims to break down barriers by fostering wine education in Africa through programs and educational initiatives to create a more diverse and inclusive wine industry. Chenin Noir’s mission is to provide access to wine and industry education, offering scholarships, mentorships and training programs to support industry professionals growth in the wine and spirit industry - with the vision of having 1000 globally certified sommeliers by 2030. These are sommeliers who have professionally developed their skills through enrichment opportunities.
